The Bunker – based at Stockton Road, Sunderland.

  • Singing Club every Saturday from 10 – 11am, for ages 8 – 18. £5 a class and all welcome. No Auditions
  • Guitar and Drum Workshops on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 – 6pm.

Ambassador Theatre Group Creative Learning – Sunderland Empire

  • Sunderland Empire offer a range of Creative Learning Activities that are inspired by the productions that visit them. For more information visit www.creativelearning.atg.co.uk.
  • Beyond the Band Pit – 20 young musicians will work with musicians and producers from the Kinks backstage at the Empire and at The Bunker on Friday 7th October. Deadline for applications is 19th September. Get your expression of interest to holliecoxon@theambassadors.com now.

Sunderland Music Workshops – every Saturday from 9am to 3pm

  • Join the ranks of The Futureheads, Field Music and up and coming band The Bubble Project who all began as part of the Sunderland Music Workshops. Call 0191 5617400 to find out more and register your interest in joining.
  • The aim is to help young people build up their self-esteem and confidence through music, whilst also developing music skills and knowledge
  • Established in 1994, the Workshops have won many national and local awards and is FREE

Sunderland Songwriters – every Saturday from 11am to 1pm at Pop Recs

  • The group is for young songwriters aged 12 – 19 of all abilities. Find out more about writing lyrics or setting words to music. Yout don’t have to be able to play an instrument to come along. Just keen to explore songwriting, music and lyrics
  • In partnership with New Writing North Cuckoo Young Writers Group.

There is also a music centre on Saturdays at Highfield Community Primary, and one due to be launched at Arts Centre Washington in September 2016. Watch this space for more info.
