Tall Ships Songs for Sunderland launch

From Sept 2017 – July 2018, we are working with the Voices Foundation, Charanga and Tall Ships to present a year long programme of singing opportunities building up to school choir performances as the Tall Ships arrive in Sunderland on Wednesday 11th July. The Voices Foundation and Charanga are currently curating a Song Bank of approx. 16 songs, with a range of resources, advice and tips for health singing for young people, conducting skills and how songs can be used across the curriculum. New SLAs include Charanga Subscription to Primary and Special Schools

To get a licence for your school just click on  www.sunderlandmusicdigital.org.uk and enter your schools postcode or name. Nearly all Primary schools have now signed up to their Local Authority wide membership of Charanga. This online resource contains a mass of resources and lesson plans from Reception to Year 9, a song repertoire bank, and a recently launched assessment tool for monitoring progress in music. Tall Ships Youth Music and Arts Celebration Fri 13th July

Bands and music ensembles are invited to take part in a celebration of Youth Music and Arts on Friday 13th July on the St Peter’s open air stage. This is an opportunity to showcase your work either through school, or as an ensemble out of school, whether pop, rock, grunge, brass, orchestral, vocal and so on. Sunderland cultural organisations are working together to provide an online Arts Award activity for you to gain a recognised certificate/qualification for your performance on the day too. SEN concert for the Tall Ships celebration – 12th July am

Sunderland Music Hub is working with Tall Ships and SEN schools in Sunderland to celebrate the fantastic work of our SEN schools and young people to grow and develop local talent for music and the arts in Sunderland. Thursday 12th July – all schools and performance groups in support of young people with SEN will be given the opportunity to perform on the open air stage at St Peter’s Campus. Tall Ships Massed Sing World Record Attempt – 11th July 2019

At 11am on 11th July, join Sunderland Music Hub, Tall Ships, Charanga, Sing UP!, North Yorkshire Music Action Zone and schools across Sunderland in an attempt to break a world record for the most people singing at the same time. Sponsor a Tall Ships Stage – open to schools and organisations

On TUESDAY 10th July, Tall Ships are offering the opportunity for your school or your arts organisation to sponsor a stage. You will have full access to the stage area to programme your own concert. Your children could act as stage managers, concert programmers and divas, and parents would be able to see their children showcase the music, theatrical or dance work your school has been producing over the last, or previous years, all for free.
